Planners give green light for Warwickshire scheme

A development of 71 new homes in Warton has been given the green light by North Warwickshire Borough Council with construction set to start in spring.

The scheme is being delivered by Develop Warwickshire, a joint venture between Warwickshire Property and Development Group (WPDG), Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and developer Countryside Partnerships, and will comprise of a mix two, three, and four bed houses and bungalows.

It will be known as Brookmill Meadows and has secured reserved matters consent from North Warwickshire Borough Council.

Outline planning consent was granted for the site in June 2019 with a reserved matters application made by WPDG in May 2022. Brookmill Meadows will include 40%affordable housing, which will be an equal split of shared ownership and affordable rent.

Brookmill Meadows contributes to the 2,000 homes that Develop Warwickshire will be bringing forward county wide.

Rob Andrews, head of development at Warwickshire Property and Development Group, said: “We’re pleased to have secured reserved matters consent on this important scheme of high-quality new homes in Warton.

“The varied housing mix will help to satisfy the demand for new housing in the area.

“Develop Warwickshire is proud to be delivering 40% affordable homes on this development and also to deliver the properties with sustainability at their heart.

“The development is set to bring benefits to existing residents in the area too, with a new car park and improvements made to existing drainage to reduce the risk of flooding.

“We are expecting to be on-site in the spring and we’re very excited about the benefits this development can bring to people in the area.”

Phil McHugh, managing director, West Midlands, Countryside Partnerships, added: “We are delighted to get the green light to start work on this exciting new development in partnership with Warwickshire Property and Development Group.

“This exciting joint venture will enable us to deliver high-quality, mixed-tenure homes at scale across the region, delivering true regeneration for local communities. We can’t wait to start making this a reality in Warton.”

Carter Jonas provided planning support for the scheme.
