Streetwear retailer calls time after 35 years in business

Wellgosh has announced some sad news

High street fashion retailer Wellgosh is to cease trading after 35 years in business.

The Leicester firm revealed the sad news on social media.

Its stores in Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham will all close.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing of Wellgosh”, the company said.

“For over 35 years, Leicester has been the beating heart of our brand and we are grateful to our store teams and the dedicated community that we have created. Our website and stores will close shortly.”

The business was acquired by JD Sports in 2021. It purported to offer “amazing sales” on premium streetwear and footwear.

Wellgosh’s Leicester site, which it established on High Street in 1998 after moving from Silver Arcade, is set to be converted into a branch of Size?

It is unclear what fate awaits the firm’s stores on Nottingham’s Clumber Street and Cannon Street in Birmingham, or how many jobs are at risk as a result of the closures.
