Developer unveils revised plans for scheme

A developer has unveiled new plans for an apartment scheme in Birmingham, half the size of the previously consented project which would have delivered the city’s tallest building.

Developer and investor Urban Vision wants to build a 32-storey tower at 100 Broad Street comprising 294 apartments to rent and ground floor commercial and leisure space.

Urban Vision acquired the plot last year from Euro Property Investments, the latter securing planning in 2020 for a 61-storey tower containing 503 apartments, shops, amenities and a sky restaurant and bar.

Urban Vision will launch a public consultation this week.

Director Nigel Robson said: “Our proposals for a build-to-rent development at 100 Broad Street will be among the most sustainable in Birmingham and add real value to the city’s skyline. The site has long been earmarked for development as part of a Broad Street area which has seen significant planned growth.

“Indeed, the site has historically benefited from planning consent for a 61-storey building although this proposal was found to be undeliverable.

“We are now proposing a smaller building but one which is clearly deliverable and can set a new standard for tall buildings in Birmingham. It includes exciting ground-floor retail, outdoor amenities and communal space.

“We are looking forward to hearing the views of residents through a public consultation taking place over the coming weeks and encourage people to get involved.”
