People: Springboard Corporate Finance; Women in Property; Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership; and more

Corporate finance advisor Springboard Corporate Finance has appointed corporate lawyer Chris Rawstron as chairman as it continues to invest in its team and offering to the market.

Rawstron with numerous listed and private domestic and international groups as well as being a trusted advisor to a number of successful entrepreneurs.

Most recently he led the national corporate team at Irwin Mitchell.

He was previously Birmingham managing partner and a global board member at DLA Piper overseeing rapid growth having begun his career at Edge Ellison (now Squire Patton Boggs).

Notably he also chaired an appeal for Marie Curie successfully raising £7m to fund a new hospice.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Springboard as chairman. I have known and admired the team for some time and look forward to working with them to continue the impressive development of the firm. Building successful teams and cultures in professional services firms has been at the heart of my career. Springboard represents a great opportunity to continue this.”

Hannah Floyd, director of furniture and interior consultancy Pi SQ, has been appointed branch chair of Women in Property in the Midlands.

Floyd is director and co-owner of Pi SQ which she established during the pandemic and which works with clients across the UK. She has been a member of Women in Property since 2018 is D&I Board Trustee of the Birmingham ‘charity for charities’ LoveBrum and board trustee of Spring Housing Trust.

She said: “Everything Women in Property is about chimes with the principles of inclusion, community and social value.

“The Midlands branch has a great committee behind us and we are really looking forward to introducing a further series of wellbeing events and reimplementing our schools outreach programme to ensure younger students are aware of the opportunities within the property sector for all genders.”

The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has confirmed new appointments to the board with James Speller, managing director of Speller Metcalfe joining and current member Jennifer Long of IceBlue Digital Marketing being named vice chair.

Long has been a member of the Worcestershire LEP board since 2020 and was recently voted into the vice chair role, in recognition of her contributions and continued commitment to the board and the wider partnership over this time. She has been involved with numerous projects, most notably with BetaDen, Worcestershire’s Technology Accelerator.

Speller is the latest non-executive director to join the Worcestershire LEP board and attended his first board meeting earlier this month.

He officially took over as managing director of Speller Metcalfe in 2022, and is passionate about collaboration, best practice and sharing knowledge. He spearheaded the company’s first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion network and is also one of the founding forces of ‘The Knowledge Series’, Speller Metcalfe’s own CPD accredited event aimed at driving best practice in construction.
He said: “I am delighted to now be a member of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership Board. As a Worcestershire-based contractor, I am passionate about advocating for Worcestershire’s economic prosperity. Having worked with and for many of those who sit within the bounds of the county and wider region, I know what an impact these projects can make.”

A full-service marketing and communications agency in Leamington Spa has kickstarted 2023 with the appointment of a new account manager.

Chris Box, has who has extensive agency-side experience, will be working across a variety of B2B and B2C accounts at R&Co Communications, which has offices in Leamington Spa and Birmingham, and last year scooped a top industry award for its work.
