Global engineering consultancy marks launch of Birmingham offices

Multi-national engineering consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV has unveiled its new office in Cornerblock in Birmingham’s Colmore Business District.

The office move brings together Royal HaskoningDHV’s Birmingham-based team with colleagues from two acquired companies – digital experts Twinn (previously known as Lanner) and sustainable transport planners ITP.

UK resident director Jonathan Bull said: “We’ve had teams based in Birmingham for over 10 years, so we are already familiar with the energy and buzz around the city. This move consolidates our position in the city and brings colleagues together in this incredible space. Supporting collaboration, sharing knowledge and resources will help us continue to deliver ground-breaking projects, both in the city and around the world.”

In the digital sector, Royal HaskoningDHV and Twinn are responsible for some of the most exciting decision intelligence tools being used around the globe. From helping UK mortgage companies and insurers to quantify risk, to allowing port operators to avoid unsafe situations caused by weather or other variables, the team uses digital modelling to connect physical and digital operations leading to better strategic and operational decisions.

Locally Royal HaskoningDHV has worked with ITP to deliver some of Birmingham’s most iconic buildings, and sustainable developments, many of them a short walk from the new office. These include Timber Yard for Galliard Homes, Lower Essex Street for Apsley House Capital and the Upper Gough Street office complex. The team has also helped West Midlands authorities to deliver sustainable transport networks for the city and on projects related to HS2 and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The office will have desk space for around 100 employees.

The celebration was attended by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Maureen Cornish JP accompanied by Lord Mayor’s Consort, Malcolm Cornish and Professor Martin Freer, director of the Birmingham Energy Institute and Energy Research Accelerator at Birmingham University as well as local clients and suppliers.
