Birmingham’s Broadway Plaza car park under new management

A Birmingham car park has come under the new management of an experienced operator with more than 700 sites nationwide.
Britannia Parking has taken over the running of the 1,300-space Broadway Plaza car park, which is just to the west of the city centre.
The three-storey underground facility was previously managed by APCOA and serves the family leisure destination Broadway Plaza, home to a cinema, bowling alley, adventure golf, indoor rock climbing and restaurants and takeaways.
Access from and to the secure 24-hour car park is by stairs or lift. Car park entries and exits are controlled using barriers linked to an automatic number plate recognition system.
In a boost for commuters, shoppers and visitors Britannia Parking has launched an introductory offer of £3 for all-day parking for drivers.
There is also standard free parking concession for three hours through participating retailers.
Mark Watts, commercial director, Britannia Parking, said: “Our promotional offer of all-day parking for £3 has been well received by a range of employers and their staff, along with day visitors to the Broadway Plaza leisure complex, because it is so competitively priced.
“We have recently purchased an AutoPay system which allows motorists to register an account with us and add a credit/debit card for payment.
“Once signed up registered customers simply drive to the barrier and it will open automatically with the same procedure on exit and £3 deducted from the card registered on their account each time. Users are free to use the car park as little or often as they require.”
Broadway Plaza car park is accessible via Ladywood Middleway on both sides of the dual carriageway.
It is the second major car park in Birmingham to be managed by Britannia Parking within 12 months.
Last summer the firm took over the running of the 450-space Grand Central multi-storey car park which was previously managed by NCP and serves the city centre, Bullring and adjacent New Street Station.
Watts added: “This is the second major car park in Birmingham that we have been contracted to manage and operate, with Broadway Plaza car park achieving The Park Mark Award for safer parking following a rigorous assessment by specially trained police assessors.
“There are also charging points for electric vehicles on P2, towards the car park exit, for the convenience of customers.”
Occupiers at Broadway Plaza include Costa Coffee, Dixy, Domino’s, Frankie & Benny’s, i-KRAVE, Philpotts, Ralph’s Bar, Subway, Travelodge, Mr Mulligans, ODEON Luxe, Rock Up, Hollywood Bowl Birmingham and Nuffield Health (gym, fitness classes, swimming pool and spa).
