Victoria Garrad and Rebecca Sherwin

Legal and professional services group Gateley has announced two senior appointments in its Birmingham office.

Victoria Garrad has been appointed chief operating officer for the Group and Rebecca Sherwin, partner and head of Real Estate has become head of the Birmingham office, Gateley’s largest office and where the Group is headquartered.

Both individuals started at Gateley back in the mid 1990s. Victoria joined as a trainee solicitor and Rebecca as a newly qualified solicitor and both have developed their careers at Gateley through to partnership.

Victoria said: “This is an exciting time to be taking on the role of COO, Gateley is an incredibly dynamic business particularly since our listing on the Alternative Investment Market back in 2015.

“We are a growing legal and professional services group. Our differentiated business model as a listed company supports our growth aspirations and enables us to offer a broader range of legal and consultancy services to our clients, but also allows us to provide opportunities for all of our colleagues to build a shareholding in the business through participation in our share options schemes.”

Rebecca said: “Like many companies emerging from the challenges of the pandemic years, we are embracing our newly established agile working patterns and are focusing on growing our business.  At the same time we are highly committed to supporting our local communities through our responsible business ethos”.

Rod Waldie, Gateley CEO, said: “I am delighted that Victoria and Rebecca are taking up their respective new roles within Gateley and I wish them every success.  They are great examples of our Gateley ‘home grown’ talent and a true demonstration of how we are committed to supporting our female talent through to very senior positions within the business. I am looking forward to working with both of them.”
