A sixth person has been arrested on suspicion of arson over a fire which ripped through the Crooked House pub in Dudley.

A 23-year-old man from Leicestershire was arrested by Staffordshire Police on Tuesday (October 3), on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent or being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He has been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.

It follows news on September 27 that a 34-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from Leicestershire, were also arrested.

A 51-year-old man from Buckingham was questioned on September 7, and a 66-year-old man from Dudley and a 33-year-old man from Milton Keynes were questioned on August 24.

All remain on conditional bail.

Police are still asking those people who might have information to get in touch if they haven’t already.

“Britain’s wonkiest” pub was set alight on 5 August and its demolition two days after the blaze by new owners prompted criticism from the local community, as an investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.
