Investment firm launches latest Birmingham build-to-rent development

Corkfield, Birmingham’s newest Build-to-Rent (BTR) development, has officially opened to residents.

The 375-apartment scheme, located next to Edgbaston Stadium, is owned and developed by PATRIZIA, which also manages the city’s first BTR development, The Forum in Southside.

Operations will be run by Native Residential following phase one coming to market. The 164 apartments are fully furnished and residents have access to more than 30,000 sq ft of shared and social space, an 8th-floor roof terrace, a landscaped courtyard, a wellness studio, a co-working space, and a private dining facility.

On-site services also include a 24/7 concierge, residents’ events program, and maintenance services, with eight full-time staff on-site.

It offers fully furnished apartments, including studios and one, two, and three-bedroom homes, with 127 featuring balconies. 340 car parking spaces are provided, as well as 40 electric vehicle charging points, and 228 secure cycle storage spaces.

Edgbaston Chief Operating Officer Craig Flindall said Corkfield is the latest step towards transforming Edgbaston Stadium into a leading, mixed-use destination with cricket and community at its core.

Olivia Seaton, asset manager at PATRIZIA said: “Edgbaston is Birmingham’s most sought-after address, combining easy access to the city centre with a leafy setting.

“As well as the Stadium right on our doorstep, the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) – with its programme of film, theatre and arts events – and Cannon Hill Park are right across the road. Edgbaston Village, Moseley and Stirchley are all walkable and offer lively bars and bakeries, with restaurants ranging from friendly independents to gastro pubs and Michelin stars. Take-up of the apartments has been brisk. More than 800 people are expected to live at Corkfield and we look forward to building a vibrant new community here.”

Rajiv Mehta, director of operations at Native Residential, said: “We are delighted to be appointed by PATRIZIA on this landmark asset in Birmingham. This appointment recognises our capability to operate best-in-class assets which drive leading outperformance, through their focus on design, community and service. We have now successfully recruited a stellar senior onsite team and we are greatly looking forward to welcoming the first residents to the scheme.”

The design of Corkfield was led by CallisonRTKL (now Arcadis), with interior design and furnishings for amenity spaces and apartments done by Cast Living.
