Midlands law firm mfg Solicitors has strengthened its corporate offering with the appointment of leading corporate lawyer Laura Charles as a partner.
Laura Charles joins mfg after a lengthy career at international law firm Gowling WLG, where she advised organisations and investors on a variety of corporate transactions, with specialisms including mergers and acquisitions, business and asset disposals, management buy-outs, investments, joint ventures and indirect real estate transactions.
Based at the firm’s Birmingham city centre offices, Charles will focus on the growth of mpg’s corporate client base and connections, whilst bringing further strength and expertise to its corporate offering.
She will work closely with partner and head of department Clare Lang, alongside partners Stephen Wyer and James Hayes.

Coventry Building Society Arena has appointed Jacky Isaac to its board as a Non-Executive Director.
Issac has been at the stadium for more than 15 years and has played a key role in the venue’s success, with this latest appointment seeing her move away from day-to-day operations.
Over the last 12 months, she has supported the business through the transition period to its new owner, Frasers Group.
Issac said: “I am delighted to continue my association with Coventry Building Society Arena as a Non-Executive Director and am particularly pleased, that under Frasers Group ownership, the professional and dedicated team there, have the opportunity to excel during this incredibly exciting time for the venue.”
The appointment follows Gary Hoffman accepting the position as Non-Executive Chairman of Coventry Building Society Arena in May 2023.

Security firm, GMS Group has appointed Dave Williams as its new senior project engineer to support the commissioning of security systems for new and existing clients.
Dave Williams joined Tividale-based GMS with over 30 years of experience in the electrical, fire and security
sector.
He spent the last eight years of his career in a similar role, where he was responsible for overseeing security installation projects for several corporate and government contracts.
Williams brings to GMS a wealth of knowledge and experience in CCTV, intruders, and all major fire alarm systems.
In his role with GMS, he will be responsible for providing new and existing clients with tailored security solutions and will oversee the installation, maintenance and commissioning of CCTV, access control, intruder, and fire alarm systems.
Williams said: “GMS is a company with a great reputation, and I have seen them grow substantially in recent years. Neil Male is a great leader and his involvement in charities and local good causes was one of the things that attracted me to the role. It is an exciting time to join as the business grows. I like new challenges and I hope to use my knowledge and experience to support the growth of existing clients as well as promote GMS to new audiences.”
