More than 400 affordable homes delivered on former power station

Countryside Partnerships, a mixed-tenure developer, worked with Midland Heart, a housing association, to deliver more than 400 affordable homes as part of the 1,500-property development on the former power station site in Drakelow Park, Burton-on-Trent

This year, more than 200 families have moved into new homes at Dracan Village, including 75 in affordable homes, 42 in open market properties, and 90 in rental properties through Sigma Capital Group plc, offering a variety of housing options to the community.

Phil McHugh, managing director of North West Midlands, Countryside said: “Our partnership work with Midland Heart throughout 2023 at Dracan Village is indicative of our commitment to create places where people love to live, with sustainable communities built to last.

“By putting the community first, and transforming former brownfield sites, together we can create new neighbourhoods of high-quality homes to suit families and individuals at every stage of life. It’s hugely rewarding to see so many people celebrating their first Christmas in their new homes at Drakelow.”

Chris Miller, director of development at Midland Heart, said: “We’re proud to be working with Countryside to deliver safe, secure and decent homes to people within our region. The regeneration of Drakelow Park is a key part of our commitment to build/ acquire 4000 homes by 2025 and will make a huge difference to the local community, giving families access to much-needed, quality housing and local amenities.

“I want to offer a warm welcome to all the families moving into Dracan Village this Christmas and hope they have a long and happy time in their new homes.”
