Further strike action set for Amazon

Today, the GMB union announced that employees at the company’s Coventry headquarters have voted in favour of extending the ongoing industrial action affecting the distribution centre.

This development coincides with strike actions spreading to a third Amazon warehouse this week, as workers at Amazon Minworth cease work and join the strike.

Already, Amazon workers have participated in nearly 30 days of industrial action as they advocate for £15 wages and union representation.

Anticipating over 1,000 Amazon workers to participate in the forthcoming action, specific strike dates are to be disclosed in the upcoming weeks.

Amanda Gearing, GMB senior organiser, said: “One year on from the first strike action at Amazon’s Coventry HQ, this news goes to show Amazon face yet more industrial chaos. Our members have voted to back a spring offensive in their fight for £15 and union rights. Amazon is running out of options; face yet more chaos or get serious about listening to their workers demands”.
