Acquisition of latest accountancy firm adds up for expanding PE-backed practice

A St Helens-based three-partner accountancy firm has been acquired by a fast-expanding West Midlands practice, for an undisclosed sum.

Abrams Ashton is now part of Palatine-backed BK Plus, which recently acquired Wrigley Partington in Oldham, as part of its continued investment in the North West.

Abrams Ashton is a well established general accountancy practice with exceptional tax and business development expertise serving SME businesses in the local area and further afield.

The practice will continue to operate out of its current offices in the St Helens Waterside Court Business Park.

Joining forces with BK Plus will enable the local partners, David Cowen, Sally Fuller and Darren Leigh, to continue to provide their current service lines and additional services such as corporate finance and banking to existing and new clients.

Ian Gould, acquisitions director of BK Plus, said: “Abrams Ashton will be a great addition to our local offering and the North West in particular.

“Sally and David will add to our already impressive tax offering across the region. As a firm, our stated policy is to offer first class service to the SME sector in their local area using local partners and staff. It was clear from the beginning of our discussions that all three partners share this philosophy.”

Sally Fuller said: “Joining forces with BK Plus represents a significant milestone for us.

“It enables us to bring expertise to a wider audience while maintaining our strong local and regional presence, enhancing our capacity to proactively support our clients’ evolving needs and solidify our close business relationships with value added services.”

David Cowen said: “BK Plus was the obvious choice for us as they had a similar philosophy to us in how we look after clients. Joining together with a larger organisation offers new opportunities as well as significant investment in staff and technology to improve our client service offering still further.”

Darren Leigh said: “Being part of a larger organisation with shared values and approach to quality client service gives me confidence in having excellent back office and compliance support to enable me and my team to provide more ground-level value added support to our clients, which is our primary focus.”
