Luxury spa retreat announces new investment plans

Staffordshire’s Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat, spa and wellness destination has revealed plans for an upgrade to its event space, ‘The Venue’.

The refurbishment, set to occur in two stages between February and April, aims to provide couples and businesses with a spacious and airy event venue for the upcoming warmer months of 2024.

Leading the design effort for this upgrade is the Interior Design Practice, a local firm based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The firm previously completed the redevelopment of the retreat’s The Oak House Restaurant and Balcony Bar at the end of 2021. The design was shortlisted in the ‘Best Restaurant Design’ category for the 2021 global SBID Awards.

Emma Moss, design director at the Interior Design Practice, described the new design and said: “As guests walk into The Venue, they will be met with a new seating area in the bar, which offers a much more relaxed lounge feel. The whole area is softened by new soft seating, more lighting and planting, to make a connection with the surrounding countryside location, that Moddershall Oaks is loved for. A central ring seat is surrounded by an array of soft, comfy seating, all using luxurious neutral fabrics, meaning wedding guests or delegates from conferences can lounge by the bar area, making it more comfortable and relaxed. The bar itself is being completely replaced with a much more contemporary and glamorous look and feel.

“Bronze metallic tiles and a beautiful, curved marble bar top, mirroring the furnishings in The Oak House restaurant. The back bar will be illuminated and has smoked mirrors creating a beautiful backdrop. With the seating and planting, the whole bar area will have a cosy, warm feeling. In the larger venue space, popular for weddings and conferences, the partitioning walls are being refurbished with a beautiful light textured style meaning indoor ceremonies will feel brighter and will have a more neutral backdrop, allowing couples to bring their style to the room even more. It’s a neutral and muted palate that lends itself well to all sorts of themes and styles.”

Penny Weston, director said: “In a post-Covid world, we’ve seen demand for conferences, corporate events, and away days increase. The spaces that we have offer flexibility for small & intimate meetings, or larger events that require flexibility, exclusivity, and a change from the norm. We’re so excited by this investment and redevelopment as it will give a cohesive connection to the rest of our spaces, and we can’t wait to reveal our phase 2 plans for our expansion in the future. It’s a very exciting time for Moddershall Oaks!”
