Plans lodged for 640,000 sq ft logistics hub

St Modwen Logistics has submitted proposals for a 640,000 sq ft scheme on land at Junction 13 of the M6 motorway near Dunston, Staffordshire.

More than 20 hectares of farmland would be transformed into six units ranging 30,000 sq ft to 250,000 sq ft, which could provide 880 new jobs once built and operational.

The joint outline planning application with landowner J&M Holt to South Stafford Council says that around 140 construction jobs would be created per year over a three year development period.

Included in plans is a new junction on the A449 near Dunston as well as a 6.9 acre community area on the south of the site which could be used for growing food, wildlife spaces, an orchard, new pathways and play areas.

A BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+ rating is being targeted by the developer, which has selected the only site outside of the greenbelt next to the M6 motorway network.

Savills has advised the plans.
