French chain checks into Birmingham with hotel acquisition

A Birmingham city centre hotel is being renovated following its acquisition by the European chain B&B Hotels.

The French budget brand has taken over the Penta in Holloway Head, which is currently closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen later this summer under the B&B Hotels brand.

The acquisition is part of a larger deal that includes five Penta locations across the UK, located in Ipswich, Inverness, Warrington and Derby.

B&B Hotels, headquartered in Brittany, announced its UK expansion plans in 2022 and opened its first UK site at Heathrow Airport in February. The company aims to have 100 locations in the UK by 2035.
