People: Springboard Corporate Finance; Sport Birmingham; Avant Homes
Corporate finance advisor Springboard Corporate Finance has announced the recruitment of Alex Brindley as director and Joe Satchwell as assistant director.
Brindley joins Springboard from Clearwater where he spent 8 years working on domestic and international corporate transactions with a varied client base spanning founder-owned businesses, management teams, institutional investors and listed corporates across the healthcare, business services and industrials sectors.
Satchwell brings more than 7 years corporate finance experience gained within the corporate finance teams at Deloitte and Clearwater.
He graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Economics and Politics and qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG.

Sport Birmingham has announced that Mark Taylor has become the new chair of the organisation, and will lead the board of trustees.
Sport Birmingham is the active partnership for Birmingham and Sport England’s ‘System Partner’, working collaboratively with local, regional and national partners to maximise the positive impact that physical activity and sport can make to people and communities.
Mike Chamberlain, chief executive said: “Mark has both the passion and the proven leadership skills to make a big difference, and he has already proven himself as a committed Board member; his connectivity and credibility in Birmingham is significant and I’m very much looking forward to the next chapter with Mark at the helm.”
Taylor is one of the co-founders of business advisory boutique, Element45 and has over 23 years of experience of working in the accounting and business advisory sector.
He spent twenty of those years at RSM UK and was managing partner of the Birmingham office from 2016 to 2023.
He recently stood down as an elected member of the Council of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce after serving for six years.
He said: “I am very proud and honoured to have been chosen by a panel of my fellow trustees to become the new Chair of Sport Birmingham. I very much look forward to working with the fabulous members of the SB team and the brilliant, diverse group of trustees we have, to take the organisation on to achieving new goals and benefiting many more lives.
“As a large proportion of our funding comes from Sport England, part of our income diversification plan is to broaden the portfolio of commercial partners we collaborate with. There are great opportunities for businesses to work with us to contribute to our hugely important mission and make a real impact in local communities.”
Avant Homes, West Midlands has strengthened its team with three new appointments to support the housebuilder’s expansion plans throughout the region.
Nigel Rimmer has been hired as construction manager, whilst Toni Swindale and Layla Malik have joined as customer liaison manager and management accountant.
With 40 years of experience within the housebuilding industry, Nigel Rimmer arrives from residential developer Taylor Wimpey.
In his new role, he is overseeing the delivery of Avant Homes West Midlands’ new homes build programme.
Swindale, who has almost a decade of experience in customer care, joins from housebuilder Bovis Homes.
As customer liaison manager, she is tasked with supporting the regional business’s customers following the completion of their home purchase.
Layla Malik has been recruited from multi-tenure developer Countryside Partnership and is playing a central role within the Avant Homes West Midlands finance team.
