Law firm Bevan Brittan has recruited a new employment partner to its Birmingham team, strengthening its national health and care practice.

Joanna Burrows’ arrival from Mills & Reeve comes as employers brace themselves for a raft of new legislation that will take effect in October, following the election of the new Government.

With experience advising NHS bodies and public sector health clients on the full range of employment law matters Burrows will play a key role in advising Bevan Brittan’s growing health and care practice.

The firm’s clients will benefit from her specialist expertise in medical staffing and performance management issues, and her ability to advise NHS employers on doctors’ capability, ill health and disciplinary matters under the Maintaining High Professional Standards framework.

Burrows has also acted for independent health and social care providers and managed complex multi-day Tribunal cases involving discrimination and whistleblowing allegations.

Social purpose law firm, Anthony Collins, has announced the appointment of a new legal director, Joe Mulrenan from HCR Law.

Mulrenan has over 10 years of experience in supporting dealmaking activity, advising organisations in the health and social care sector such as specialist care, supported living and children’s care.

As well as advising specialist care providers, Mulrenan has acted for many financial institutions, and entrepreneurs, supporting them through a variety of complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.

SevenLiving, a Birmingham-based online lettings agency, has welcomed a senior hire to their ranks as the company embark on an ambitious growth strategy.

Jiaze Li joins the team as a business development manager having previously worked for LiFE Residential and Ease Home Property. Jiaze has more than 5 years of experience and has developed a deep understanding of the private rental sector, having worked his way up from sales and lettings negotiator to lettings manager in a previous role.

In his new role, Li will help spearhead growth initiatives, drive the expansion of the company’s presence in the private rental sector and enhance SevenLiving’s landlord services as the sector undergoes a period of unprecedented change.
