Revised plans lodged for £81m Centenary Square office scheme

Kier Property is back with a new proposal for its third building at the Arena Central scheme in Birmingham.
The £81m office development had secured planning permission from Birmingham City Council twice before, but consent has since expired for 5 Centenary Square.
Now the developer is seeking approval for 280,863 sq ft of Grade A office space opposite the Library and next to The University of Birmingham’s Exchange Building.
The ten-storey building would feature a top-floor terrace overlooking Centenary Square, alongside a basement with 12 car parking spaces and a cycle hub with 160 spaces and changing rooms.
The revised plans by Make Architects have relocated the cycle hub to the lower ground floor, in order for the hub to be accessed from Bridge Street.
A unit for retail has also been added on the lower ground floor off Bank Court, as well as a reconfiguration of the reception to accommodate access to both the lower ground cycle facilities and the central bank of lifts facing onto Bank Court.
Documents say around 1,385 people could work at the site once complete.
