Planning approval kicks off affordable housing developments

A Northern property developer is about to break ground on 75 affordable homes in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, after receiving planning approval for two sites.
The developments, located on High Street and Knutton Lane, will be built for Aspire Housing, a Newcastle-based housing association, which selected Breck following a competitive tender process.
Part-funded by Homes England and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, the homes will offer a range of one to four-bedroom properties for affordable rent and shared ownership, with both schemes expected to be completed by mid-2026.
Breck, which launched in 2020 and is based near Preston, has a pipeline of over 1,300 residential properties, including its first-ever projects in Staffordshire.
Andy Garnett, director at Breck said: “Over the past five years, we have developed a strong reputation for the consistent delivery of high-quality homes in the North West on increasingly larger schemes and we’re excited to continue our growth by starting at our first Staffordshire developments.
“There is a real need for new homes across the UK, particularly affordable homes, and partnering with Aspire on these two developments will mean 75 families, couples and individuals will have a place to call their own in Newcastle-under-Lyme they may not have otherwise been able to secure.”
