Copper tubing manufacturer unveils plans for £20m facility

Lawton Tubes, a family-run manufacturer of copper tubing, has announced plans for a £20m facility near its current headquarters in Coventry.
The new 120,000 sq ft building, located on Torrington Avenue, will combine manufacturing, storage and office space.
With an annual turnover of £230m and 140 employees across sites in Coventry, Redditch, and Poole, Lawton Tubes exports to over 40 countries and recently received the King’s Award for Enterprise for its success in international trade.
Lawton Tubes’ copper products are used in a variety of sectors, including healthcare, construction and sports.
Robert Lawton, director of marketing and international sales and a fourth-generation member of the family business founded in 1918, shared the news with Steve Harcourt, president of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, during a recent visit.
Lawton said: “We are thrilled to announce our investment in a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as the foundation for our continued growth. With increasing global demand, recognition from the King’s Award for Enterprise, and strong sales growth across new markets, now is the ideal time to invest in our future.
“There is growing awareness of copper’s sustainability. It can be recycled endlessly and has natural antimicrobial properties that kill germs on contact. This has driven demand across all our sectors, reinforcing the need for expanded space and new technologies to support our next phase of growth.
“We also view this as an opportunity to deepen our engagement with the local community. Being a great business means giving back, and we’re excited to expand our role in supporting the region. We’re eager to work with the Chamber and other partners as we move forward.”
Harcourt said: “One of the most rewarding aspects of my role as Chamber President is meeting the incredible businesses that make our region thrive. Lawton Tubes has been an integral part of Coventry’s business landscape for over a century, and this significant investment marks an exciting new chapter for the company. As a Chamber, we are here to offer our full support to help Lawton Tubes achieve its growth ambitions.”
