Building consultancy checks into Birmingham with new office

Harry McDermott and Jack Birchall

Jones Hargreaves, a commercial building, project and sustainability consultancy, has opened a new Birmingham office.

Leading the new office at Somerset House on Temple Street are associate partners Jack Birchall and Harry McDermott, who bring a combined 18 years of commercial property experience.

Both have relocated from the firm’s London office to support investors, owners and occupiers across industrial, retail and office portfolios.

Birchall specialises in dilapidations, tenant alterations and technical due diligence, while McDermott focuses on technical due diligence, planned maintenance, and contract administration.

The pair previously worked at Hollis Global before joining Jones Hargreaves.

Birchall said: “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to open our new Birmingham office and dive into the Midlands’ thriving commercial property sector. The city itself has seen a lot of growth in recent years and it’s exciting to be part of that. I was keen to relocate to Birmingham as it’s a great city, with so much to offer, and this was the perfect time for me both professionally and personally. This opportunity highlights the culture of the business and the trust in the team.”

Jones Hargreaves has opened a new Midlands office in response to demand, taking on projects for companies like Indurent, Adapt Real Estate and Gilbanks.

The firm is also advising on a £2m fit-out for a 20,000 sq ft serviced office at Five St Phillips.

Matt Williams, partner at Jones Hargreaves said: “This is our seventh office opening and aligns with our business expansion strategy to meet ever-increasing client demand for our commercial building consultancy and ESG services across the UK, particularly in the Midlands.

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to Jack and Harry, who I have no doubt will make a fantastic impression within the Midlands’ burgeoning commercial property sector. As valued members of the team, we’re delighted to support them in both their personal and career aspirations. It’s a win-win as we retain fantastic people in the business and clients across the Midlands benefit from their vast experience and the local knowledge they offer.”
