Law firm Shoosmiths has brought in a seasoned finance lawyer to lead its Birmingham team.
Jon Bew, a specialist in asset-based lending, has built a career over two decades, advising both borrowers and lenders on finance deals across the UK and internationally.
His expertise spans high street banks, independent funders, and alternative lenders, handling transactions involving receivables finance, property, inventory, and cashflow facilities.
Over the years, he has played a key role in major financial deals, from securing a $70m syndicated facility for Shawbrook Bank and Wells Fargo to advising Close Brothers on acquisition finance for Trust Tech Inc’s takeover of GAP Personnel.
His work has also included structuring multimillion-pound lending packages for businesses such as Webster & Horsfall, Affinity Workforce and Fluorocarbon Group.
Bew joined Shoosmiths as a partner in 2019 after previous stints at Irwin Mitchell and Squire Patton Boggs.
Recognised as a leading finance lawyer in the West Midlands, he has earned a “Hall of Fame” ranking from Legal 500, making him one of just three lawyers in the region to hold that distinction.
