Stafford architect wins £35m waterfront project

A STAFFORDSHIRE architect has landed the contract to design a new £35m residential care village scheme on the south coast.

Croft Architecture, based in Stafford, will design a residential scheme next to the 2012 Olympic yachting venue.

Croft is now working on designs ahead of submitting a planning application in January.

The practice employs three staff and a consultant and is looking to take on up to three new recruits as a result of recent contract wins.

Managing director Carl Croft said: “We have developed a sensitive design which fits well with the harbour side setting and the extensive facilities will also be available to the local community.

“I have just returned from a very well-attended consultation exercise with local residents in Weymouth and we were very pleased with the extremely positive feedback.”

Mr Croft established his own practice almost three years ago and his previous projects include the Keele University Earth and Space Centre and medical facilities for Sir Robert Peel Hospital in Tamworth.
