Press Club signs up Mr Paparazzi
DARRYN Lyons – the man known as Mr Paparazzi – will be the revealing the secrets of his trade later this month at the Birmingham Press Club annual lunch. Mr Lyons, also a Dragon on the short-lived Australian version of the BBC show Dragons’ Den, recently spent time as a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother. He runs the Big Pictures paparazzi agency in London after staring his media career on a local newspaper in his home state of Victoria. He moved to the UK aged 22 when he joined the News of the World following a chance meeting with Rupert Murdoch. Lyons also completed two tours of Sarajevo as a war photographer for the Daily Mail before launching his agency in 1992 which later featured in a BBC documentary series. The event on October 21 is at the Burlington Hotel, Birmingham, and is being sponsored by Bournville College, which has just opened its new £66m campus in Longbridge.
Cogent leads Range Rover campaign
SOLIHULL PR and advertising agency Cogent Elliot has worked on the marketing campaign to launch the new Range Rover Evoque. It produced marketing material for use in dealerships across the world including a lifestyle accessories film which the agency said was a first for Land Rover. Cogent also produced a QR code which sits in a company brochure to link the introductory accessories spread to the film.
Tamba takes award
BURNTWOOD digital marketing agency TAMBA Internet won the social category at the 2011 COGS Awards. Competing against agencies from across the UK, judges chose the firm for its work with household products firm Reckitt Benckiser, including the development of a bespoke Facebook hub and interactive quiz. TAMBA’s clients other include Expedia, Dell and Carphone Warehouse.
