Porter is Weslyan’s first female board member

Samantha Porter has been appointed to the board of Wesleyan Assurance Society as marketing director. Her promotion makes her the first woman to reach board level in the Birmingham-based mutual’s 170 year history. Wesleyan chief executive Craig Errington said: “Sam’s promotion to the board is well deserved. She has made a significant contribution to Wesleyan’s strategic development while sharpening our focus on delivering against our customer commitment. Sam was instrumental in establishing our new sales relationship centre and is leading Wesleyan through the changes required by the Retail Distribution Review ensuring we use this regulatory challenge as an opportunity to deliver added value to our customers.” Ms Porter said: “I’m honoured to join Wesleyan’s Board and look forward to contributing at this senior level to the society’s continued growth and success. I have worked for the company for 16 years and am totally committed to our people, our vision and our values. Wesleyan also appointed Liz McKenzie to its executive management team as director of HR and corporate planning. She previously spent 19 years at Toyota in a variety of roles including project management and continuous improvement.

Bibby promoted at Mazars

Ann Bibby, a tax expert in the Birmingham office of Mazars, has been promoted to partner. Ms Bibby has nearly 20 years experience in helping growing businesses and individuals manage their tax obligations. She said: “It is a proud moment for me and the culmination of my career to date. I very much enjoy working with the high-powered team we have here. It is a stimulating environment and I am determined to play my part in expanding our offer.” Midlands managing partner David Chapman said: “Ann has total command of her sector, is a team player and this promotion is richly deserved. It is a further example of how strongly our presence in Birmingham is developing. Despite the difficult economic climate we continue to drive the operation forward, taking advantage of opportunities as they arise – for example becoming a specialist adviser to new academy schools.”

Williams de Broë takes on Dosanjh

Williams de Broë has appointed Nathan Dosanjh as a business development executive, supporting its Birmingham office. Mr Dosanjh joins from Coutts & Co, where he was a private banker for five years. He has more than eight years of industry experience working within the private client sector. Philip Howell, CEO of Williams de Broë, said: “We are delighted to have Nathan join our growing business development team in the Midlands. This appointment will further strengthen our established strategy of building lasting relationships with our professional intermediary partners.”
