University of Warwick gains ICT award

THE University of Warwick Science Park has become the first Midlands organisation to gain a national award for its ICT provisions.

The Science Park’s Venture Centre, situated close to the main University of Warwick campus, has been given the leading edge award by ict active.

The Business Innovation Centre, in Binley, has also received ict active accreditation. Both awards will last for two years after assessors judged the centres on their ICT infrastructure including Internet speeds, security, cabling and systems.

Tim Ward, of ict active, said: “The awards mean that the centres offer very good ICT facilities to occupying companies.

“They are the first organisation in the Midlands to receive the awards and I am sure others will now look to follow suit.”

In 2008, ict active was launched as a pilot in Yorkshire and is now being rolled out across the country as a benchmark for buildings.

The University of Warwick Science Park is one of only a handful of organisations in the UK to achieve the leading edge award.

David Grindrod, of the University of Warwick Science Park, said: “We are delighted with these awards for the Venture Centre and the Business Innovation Centre.

“We pride ourselves on offering the very best level of facilities to tenant companies in order to give them the best possible chance to grow their businesses.”

“ICT is a very big part of that, so to receive this recognition is good news for everyone in both centres and highlights what an excellent place this is to grow a business,” he added.
