Solihull retailers looking for early Christmas present

RETAILERS in Solihull have mounted a new campaign to try to boost the town’s economy during the crucial festive trading period.
A specially-designed silver purse is being delivered to homes in selected areas such as Stratford, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Banbury, Worcester, Warwick and Bromsgrove in an attempt to lure them away from their normal shopping destination in favour of Solihull.
The Silver Purse campaign aims to build on the Pink Purse promotion which ran during the summer and highlighted the town’s retail and leisure offer to female shoppers in communities closer to Solihull.
The campaign is set reach more than 1.5m homes within an hour’s travel of central Solihull, raising the profile of the town and its retail offer. Featuring the strap line ‘So Solihull, So Magical’, it highlights the wealth of shopping opportunities in the town, especially its flagship Touchwood Shopping Centre, which is anchored by a John Lewis department store.
Shirley Sturzaker, director of Solihull Business Improvement District, which is behind the campaign, said: “Our previous campaigns have been designed to remind shoppers from the local area what is on offer within Solihull to encourage loyalty and increased frequency of visit. This campaign is all about increasing the overall size of the customer base by introducing the town to new audiences and tempting consumers away from other high streets to explore what Solihull has to offer.”
