Budget hotel chain opens first UK site in Coventry

A CHAIN of European budget hotels has opened its first UK centre in Coventry.
Louvre Hotels has converted the 47-bedroom former Campanile Hotel, another brand from its portfolio, into one of its low-cost ‘Premiere Classe’ operations.
Louvre has over 220 hotels in France as well as sites Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands and rooms will be offered in Coventry at £32 per night and £4.95 for breakfast.
It is in the Walsgrave area, north east of the city, and will be the first of several new hotels across the UK should the Coventry operation prove to be a success.
The hotel also has conference room facilities, a licensed bar and each bedroom is en suite with free Wi-Fi and a flatscreen TV.
It is ideally located to attract both tourists and businesses looking for centrally-located facilities to host meetings as it is just one mile from the M6 and within easy reach of both Birmingham and Coventry airports.
David Anderson, Louvre Hotels’ operations director for Northern Europe, said: “Premiere Classe has proved to be a budget hotel tour de force in France and, with the tremendous demand we are seeing for true budget hotels in the UK, we anticipate that this success will be mirrored here.
“Budget hotels were first introduced to the UK in the mid 1980s when times were also tough, now we have gone full circle and the emphasis is once more on low cost accommodations at a known and reliable standard.”
