Firms offered help understanding social media

WEST Midlands companies looking to understand how social media could improve their business are being offered help with the technology by one of the sector’s leading figures.
Marketing expert Susan Hallam, of Hallam Communications, has teamed up with Business Link West Midlands for a series of interactive workshops.
The senior lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and now self-made entrepreneur will guide companies through the intricacies of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and the art of blogging.
Held at seven venues across the region, the workshops are free of charge and will be full of practical tips, ranging from identifying quick wins to managing your reputation online and the development of a pro-active social media strategy.
Helen Goring, head of marketing and events at Business Link West Midlands, said it was important companies embraced the marketing benefits offered by social media before their competitors.
“We are hearing all the time about social media and we are finding that a lot of firms want to take advantage but don’t know where to start,” she said.
“These new events are suitable for both novices and those that have already made a start and have been designed to show how this new form of marketing can help boost profile, encourage better customer relationships and increase sales.”
The Social Media Marketing for Business events get under way on June 9th at The Three Counties Hotel, Hereford.
The sessions start at 9.15am and last until 1pm and, in addition to the workshops there will be the opportunity to network and meet with specialist advisers to discuss more on-going support.
