LDC gets on its bike for charity

A TEAM of amateur cyclists from Midlands private equity provider, LDC, swapped their investment portfolios for pedals to take part in a fundraising cycle ride between Lands End to John o’Groats.
The seven-strong team from LDC’s Birmingham office completed the Midlands leg of the Tour de LDC 2010 marathon challenge by cycling more than 50 miles from Birmingham to Nottingham – via Tamworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
Their leg of the epic journey was to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
During the 1,100-mile marathon, more than 200 cyclists participated in the challenge, visiting every one of LDC’s mainland offices in the process. Each office raising money for its chosen charity.
The Birmingham team raised more than £2,000 for the BCH, a charity it has supported since 2006.
Martin Draper, managing director of LDC Midlands, part of Lloyds Banking Group, said: “LDC’s charity efforts reached a momentous milestone in 2009, when total funds raised nationally since 2005 exceeded £1m.
“This year therefore we were keen to make an even bigger fundraising effort – something which would incorporate LDC’s wide network of UK offices while ultimately benefiting local charities with on the ground connections to each office.”
Fidelis Hyman, business development manager for BCH, said: “LDC’s commitment to BCH is phenomenal. It is a long standing relationship and we are exceptionally proud to be a cause that LDC is so keen to support.”
