Clare Balding signs up for legal awards

TV presenter Clare Balding will be the guest speaker at the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2012.
Best known as the face of the BBC’s horse racing coverage, Balding is an established name in sports broadcasting. She made her television debut in 1995, presenting Royal Ascot for the BBC, following a successful career as a jockey having been named champion lady rider in 1990.
Since then she has gone on to present Wimbledon and the Olympics and will be part of the BBC team at the London 2012 games.
In 2003, in recognition of her broadcasting achievements, she won the Royal Television Society’s ‘Sports Presenter of the Year’, as well as winning awards for ‘Racing Journalist of the Year’ and ‘Racing Broadcaster of the Year’ shortly after.
Away from sport, Balding has worked on numerous TV programmes, including Countryfile, The Lord Mayor’s Show, Trooping the Colour and Crufts.
Joining Clare on stage as guest compere will be Heart FM breakfast show presenter Ed James.
The Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards will take place at the International Convention Centre on Thursday March 22 March. More than 500 people are expected to attend the annual event, which has been held since 2002.
