Perkins Slade appoints new corporate MD
PERKINS SLADE has appointed Darren Rowe as managing director corporate. Mr Rowe has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry with senior roles at both PowerPlace and Towergate. He will have board responsibility for Perkins Slade’s Corporate and Credit divisions. His appointment follows the announcement of new directorships for Julia Harrop, Mark Ford and Aslam Ismail.
Chief executive Nick Tamblyn said: “We are delighted to welcome Darren to Perkins Slade, his experience, professionalism and expertise make him a valuable addition to our executive team. He’ll play a key role, along with our new board, in defining and implementing our strategy for business development and client retention, enabling us to take advantage of the market opportunities ahead.”

Jobson James appoints new board director
BIRMINGHAM insurance broker Jobson James has made two senior appointments as it embarks upon aggressive growth plans. Richard Waltier joins as a main board director while Paul Hodgkinson joins as an associate director. Both have extensive industry experience.
Mr Waltier, left, said: “Paul and I are delighted to be joining an organisation that is hungry for growth and one which shares our philosophy of ‘putting the client first’ with good old-fashioned personal service and long-term business partnerships. We very much look forward to building on the firm foundations already set down and driving the business forward.” In a further development, the firm has been awarded Chartered Insurance Broker status by the Chartered Insurance Institute. It is one of less than 100 insurance brokers in the UK to receive the accreditation.
Nicklin supports academic excellence
A PROMISING student with an interest in business has had his academic achievements recognised with an award from Halesowen-based chartered accountancy firm Nicklin. Mandeep Johal achieved A grades in his A-level exams in economics, accountancy and pure maths with statistics at King Edward VI College, in Stourbridge. He is now studying economics and management at Aston University.
He has been honoured for his achievements with the Nicklin Prize for Accountancy, which is presented each year to a promising accountancy student from the sixth form college. Chris Cook, a partner at Nicklins, said: “As a firm, we have long been committed to engaging with our local community and that includes recognising the achievements of hard-working students such as Mandeep.”
