Two key appointments at business chamber

TWO key appointments have been made at Burton and District Chamber of Commerce.
Dave Bryon is the new divisional director and will drive forward the chamber’s future direction and strategy while Julie Beveridge joins as business development manager.
Mr Bryon is the former MD of low cost airline bmibaby and more recently set up the Eat Out Awards in Burton.
He is also re-launching the Burton Mail Business Awards this month and has lived in the town for the past 10 years.
Mrs Beveridge lives in Tutbury, north of Burton, and will drive recruitment strategy.
The duo will be based at the new chamber offices housed in Else Solicitors on the Centrum 100 business park.
Chamber president Andrew Gentles said: “We are delighted with the progress of the chamber since we announced the merger with Birmingham in April.
“There are huge benefits to members through our affiliation with over 3,200 other businesses in the Midlands, but it is important that we retain our autonomy in order to help our members in the Burton and district area.
“Over the next few months we will be working with the new team to ensure a smooth merger and transition.”
Mr Bryon added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to get involved in a project designed specifically to help and support businesses in the Burton and district area.
“We will be working with the wider Birmingham Chamber Group to identify and provide a range of cost-saving and revenue-generating business products to help businesses survive and thrive.”
The chamber currently has over 220 members, representing around 10,000 employees in the area, but Mr Bryon said they hoped to boost this to over 300 over the coming year.
