Developer boosts charity’s coffers at comedy night

Kieran Leahy and Lisa Bennett of Oakmoor  Deeley present a cheque for £1,762 to Baby Lifeline’s Company Secretary  and solicitor Tim Ledger.A COVENTRY-based developer boosted the coffers of a local charity after it held a comedy night in the city. Oakmoor Deeley, which developed the Belgrade Plaza, gave Baby Lifeline a cheque for £1,762 raised from car parking charges. Baby Lifeline, also based in Coventry, cares for pregnant women and their newborn babies and raised a grand total of £6,000 at the ‘Live at the Belgrade’ event. Held at the city’s Belgrade Theatre, it featured performances from comedians such as Hattie Hayridge, Richard Herring, Bob Mills and Francesca Martinez, who starred in Ricky Gervais’ Extras and is vice-president of Baby Lifeline. Kieran Leahy, of Oakmoor Deeley, said: “Baby Lifeline provides tremendous support to pregnant women and their families across the country and when we heard they were holding their comedy night at our neighbours the Belgrade Theatre we were more than happy to show our support.” Picture: Kieran Leahy and Lisa Bennett of Oakmoor Deeley present a cheque to Tim Ledger of Baby Lifeline.

Rugby legend Mike Catt becomes bank ambassador

ENGLAND Rugby Union World Cup winner Mike Catt MBE has signed up with Yorkshire Bank to be its ambassador. The former Bath player will attend community and corporate events and spend time in schools and clubs coaching young athletes. He said: “Yorkshire Bank has a strong commitment to its local community and the loyalty and enthusiasm it displays in supporting sport is magnificent. Rugby is a game that teaches essential life skills such as team work, determination and discipline and through my work with Yorkshire Bank, I will be looking to develop these skills at coaching sessions throughout the country.” Mr Catt will also represent the bank at business events and seminars and share some of the secrets from his 20 years as a professional player.
