Masters judges all in place

THE line up of judges for TheBusinessDesk.com’s inaugural Midlands Business Masters awards is now complete.

Wade Lyn, the founder and managing director of Birmingham-based Cleone Foods – which produces Caribbean cuisine for the mainstream market – is the final judge to be announced.

Lyn, who is the Prince of Wales’ Business in the Community regional ambassador for the West Midlands, joins two of the region’s leading manufacturers – Metalrax finance director Caroline Green and Fiona Toye, chief executive of Toye, Kenning & Spencer – on the judging panel. Birmingham Science Park Aston CEO Dr David Hardman will also be casting an expert eye over the entries.

Our final two judges are Richard Butler – the regional director for the CBI in the West Midlands – and Doug Mahoney, UK Trade & Investment’s international trade director for the West Midlands.

The judging session for the Business Masters – in association with Jaguar – will take place on March 5. The judges will select the top three contenders in each of six categories and then the winners will be chosen by readers of TheBusinessDesk.com.

Nominations are now open for the Masters, which as well as rewarding company success, will highlight all that is good about business in the Midlands, including the outstanding personalities who make the region’s economy thrive.

An independent panel of respected business experts will judge the awards which will celebrate and honour the most successful businesses and entrepreneurs in the region.

The six awards categories are:

West Midlands Newcomer – Best new business initiative in the region
West Midlands Manufacturer – Celebrating the region’s top manufacturing firms
West Midlands Pride – Most meaningful philanthropic initiative by a business, organisation or leader
West Midlands Innovator – Most creative or original business thinking
West Midlands Ambassador – Greatest contribution to business in the West Midlands
West Midlands Exporter – Recognising overseas trade success
