RSM Tenon helps investor slay Dragons

ACCOUNTANTS at the Birmingham office of RSM Tenon helped a contestant on the new series of Dragons Den secure a £100,000 investment.
John Moore, entrepreneurial business adviser at the firm, assisted Angela Newman, of Vintage Patisserie, with her pitch to the hardnosed investors.
The help proved invaluable as Angela persuaded two of the Dragons – Deborah Meadon and Theo Paphitis – to invest in the catering business.
Angela’s London-based business started life selling bespoke t-shirts from an online shop. This has now expanded to also sell cakes, chocolates, custom clothing and much more.
The RSM Tenon team – John Moore, Cas Mason, Amit Takyar and Julie Sheldon – worked with Angela to prepare for questions from the Dragons, which included finance, structure and market research into competitors to ensure she was fully equipped for the pitch.

Mr Moore said: “We worked with Angela on pitch presentation, preparation of annual and management accounts at very short notice to ensure she was ready for all eventualities in the Den.
“We wish Angela continued success and will be there to support her as the business develops.”
Angela said: “RSM Tenon’s team were great in helping and providing advice in order for me to prepare to go in front of the Dragons.
“The money injected by the Dragons will be used to set up a ‘real’ shop, hopefully, in Covent Garden and to develop vintage tea rooms and parties where traditional tea is served.
“I have great ambitions to set up tea rooms in Edinburgh and New York, plus in other international cities where quaint English tea rooms have that unique appeal.”
