Dignity sees revenues and profits rise

LISTED funeral directors Dignity has announced increased underlying profits and revenues for the first half of the year.

In a statement on its unaudited interim results for the 26 week period ended 25 June, the company said revenue was up 5.5% to £100.9m, with profits 3.7% better at £33.8.

The company said its stable performance ‘may present an opportunity to issue further Secured Notes’, but given general market conditions the board anticipated releveraging the group to a lower level than that seen historically.

Mike McCollum, chief executive, said: “This is a good performance by the Group. The operating performance in the first half of 2010 is more consistent with the average of the last five years than last year. As expected, the operating performance in all three businesses in the second quarter of 2010 was very strong compared to the prior year.

“Our expectations for the full year continue to be positive and remain unchanged.”
