New Staffordshire business park could create 2,500 jobs

MORE than two-and-a-half thousand skilled jobs could be created on a new business park being planned by Staffordshire County Council.

Plans for the £8.5m business park at Redhill, off the A34 in Stafford, will be submitted early next month. Seven plots aimed at high quality businesses would be developed on the site which lies on county council land to the north of the existing retail and business park.

The new park will be targeted at the research and technology sector with the council suggesting it provides an ideal site to open units for manufacturing and production businesses. It is hoped that subject to planning approval, work could begin in September and be completed in the spring of 2013.

The county council has been working with Stafford Borough Council in its preparation for submitting the plans. A public exhibition will take place at the Stafford North Hurricane Premier Inn, Redhill, Stafford on Wednesday February 29 between 4pm and 8pm.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for economic growth and enterprise Ben Adams said: “We are committed to delivering even more high quality jobs in Staffordshire. This new business park in Stafford will create 2,500 when occupied – hugely significant for our county and the region.

“We have set out our clear position nationally on improving the economy and wider prosperity in Staffordshire; developing new successful business parks, investing in existing ones to increase their viability, attracting leading global businesses and associated companies and setting out plans for major regeneration of our town centres.”
