WPR wins big with Travis Perkins contract

BIRMINGHAM’S WPR has been appointed by Northamptonshire building services plc Travis Perkins to provide trade public relations support.

The Edgbaston agency – previously known as Willoughby – has initially been tasked with providing a press office function for seven brands in the company’s portfolio including Travis Perkins, Keyline, City Plumbing Supplies and Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS). It will additionally be involved in raising awareness of its hire service.

WPR will also be expected to deliver a number of major projects over the coming year.

Travis Perkins, which has a network of  more than 1,800 locations across the UK, acquired WPR’s long standing clients BSS Industrial, PTS and F & P Wholesale in 2010.

Linda Doughty, its trade marketing director said: “Having followed the activity of WPR clients in the trade press, we knew we would be working with a team of dedicated professionals who know our industry and the issues that affect us inside and out.

“We have many exciting projects coming up and we’re looking forward to a proactive response by the specialist B2B team at WPR.”

The account will be headed up by WPR’s head of B2B Tom Leatherbarrow who said: “Travis Perkins is a dream client for us and was a natural fit to complement the other brands the team currently works with.

“There are so many fantastic activities and industry topics to get stuck into – we’re looking forward to making our mark in trade and regional press.”
