Majorfax wins significant Chinese rail parts order

BLACK Country manufacturer Majorfax has won a major order to supply rail parts to French company SKF France.

Majorfax, a specialist in ferrous and non-ferrous casting, will supply more than 3,500 rail parts which are destined for trains in China.

The firm has had a long established relationship with SKF in the UK. The 12 month contract for its sister company marks a first for the Walsall business.

Majorfax, which has more than 25 years’ experience within the foundry industry, will supply sensor parts for Chinese trains to SKF France.

Production manager Leigh Dale said: “Our expertise and experience led us to winning the prestigious contract. The knowledge we have in regards to these complex parts placed us in a much stronger position than any other competitors.”

Majorfax is now hoping to win similar contracts for braking parts in China in the future and, on the back of increasing demand for its castings, is considering expanding its workforce by around 10%.

“As long as those contracts that we’ve won carry on then we will be taking on other people,” said Dale.

The value of the SKF France contract is undisclosed.
