Pink Group buoyant after third big contract win

A SHROPSHIRE recycling company is celebrating its third major contract wins of the summer.

Following its success in handling complex contracts at the RAF Cosford Air Show and the Shropshire Diamond Jubilee Pageant, Pink Group Waste and Recycling has now won the contract to service the Shrewsbury Flower Show at its 125th anniversary event today and tomorrow.

Alistair Stewart, the firm’s head of sales and marketing, said: “We’re always thrilled to be asked to support prestigious events but with the Cosford Airshow, the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, and the Shrewsbury Flower Show being so close to home, and with us being selected over some of the major national and multinational companies out there, we’re even more delighted.”

The firm’s role at the RAF Cosford Air Show involved a forensic level of cleaning.

“Because the site is also an active airfield, our team supported the RAF in an in-depth post-event clean-up which saw all materials – or foreign object debris as it’s known in the aviation industry – removed,” said Stewart.

“Even an item as small as a pen top could cause untold damage to an aircraft, so it was a real challenge to return the site to its former pristine state after both events.”

With more than 40 years in the waste industry, Pink Group is one of the largest privately owned waste and recycling companies in Britain.

Currently recycling over 80% of the waste material it collects, the Pink Group has a target of achieving zero to landfill before the end of 2012 from its £5m recycling plant in Ketley.
