ApplianSys takes more space on back of export growth

A COVENTRY technology company is celebrating an export milestone, having notched up customers in 100 countries.

ApplianSys, which designs, builds and markets server appliances, has experienced substantial growth after switching its focus to emerging markets. The firm has seen sales of its appliances double in the past 18 months. Some 85% of its sales are now exports.

The firm’s headcount has tripled over the last 12 months and now it has taken more space to become the largest tenant at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Binley Innovation Centre.

Justyna Gralinska from ApplianSys said: “Our products and our marketing efforts are targeted at users outside Europe, in the fastest growing regions of the world. Sales are strong across Africa, Middle East, Asia, and the Americas North and South.

“Some of our products are particularly helpful in remote areas where bandwidth is scarce.

“This means we have lots of customers in interesting places, for example the Falkland Islands, Diego Garcia, St Helena, Greenland, Alaska, Mauritius, Reunion and Madagascar.

“The 99th country we exported to was Wallis and Futuna – which we’d never even heard of!”

Penny Robb, the centre manager at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Binley Innovation Centre, said: “It is always good to see one of our firms achieving such magnificent success, particularly at a time when not everyone is finding it easy.

“ApplianSys has clearly used a great knowledge of emerging markets to contribute to this growth and long may that continue.

“This just goes to show what can be achieved when you combine strong products with the right support and a staff who are clearly experts in their chosen field.”
