Police commissioner Jones to host business crime summit

BOB Jones, the newly elected police and crime commissioner for the West Midlands, is intending to put tackling business crime high on his agenda.
He is to meet with members of the business community at the B2B Expo in Coventry in January to allow them to raise any concerns with him.
Jones said: “Crime against small businesses is a crime against all of us and is certainly not victimless. Following my election in November 2012, I have established frequent contact with the FSB {Federation of Small Businesses) and its members to listen and make sure that best practise is implemented.
“I look forward to meeting the business community at the B2B expo on 15th January.”
Ian O’Donnell, FSB Warwickshire & Coventry chairman, said: “With two thirds of small firms experiencing crime and fraud, at a cost of up to £3,000 per business each year, police help and engagement is critical to reduce this burden and barrier to growth.
“Currently 40% of businesses do not report crime, which means that actual crime levels may be higher. Effective strategies to reduce business crime will help reduce crime overall and we are therefore delighted that Bob Jones, the PCC for the West Midlands, is working with the FSB to help support small businesses.”
