Squire Sanders brings in global public procurement partner

LAW firm Squire Sanders has appointed Steven Norris, formerly partner and national head of regulated procurement at DLA Piper, as a partner in its Birmingham-based regulatory practice.
Norris will take a leading role in expanding the firm’s global procurement practice, spending time in London and Washington D.C.
A leading public procurement lawyer, Norris has provided specialist advice to many central government departments, local authorities, universities, colleges and other bodies governed by public law.
He has been involved in a broad range of high-profile projects, including advising the Olympic Delivery Authority on regulated procurement issues in connection with the London 2012 Olympic Games, Transport for London on its traffic congestion charging project and the UK Department of Health on its National Programme for IT, which was the world’s largest civil IT procurement project.
Joe Markoski, Squire Sanders’ regulatory practice group leader, said: “His appointment is an important strategic step in the development of our global procurement practice, both in terms of advising on outward bound investment from countries such as China and the US into Europe, as well as assisting clients from those jurisdictions with their own procurement regimes.”
Birmingham office managing partner Nick Green added: “Steven is a welcome addition to the office. He will play an important role working alongside our real estate, pensions, construction, litigation and public sector teams, all of which have experienced increasing client demand for procurement advice.”
