Heritage shines as Simpson’s chef takes centre stage

THE specialist work of Birmingham-based silversmith Heritage Silverware has been showcased on the world stage at a leading culinary event.

Simpson’s head chef, Adam Bennett, opted to use the firm’s products for his appearance at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or in Lyon.

Bennett won the national heats to become the UK candidate in September 2011. He then competed in the European heats in March 2012, reaching sixth place and securing a place in the world final.

To ensure Birmingham was fully represented at the event he opted to pair his entries with Heritage’s bespoke silverware.

Silversmiths at Small Heath-based Heritage spent over 500 hours manufacturing 115 pieces including miniature hand-blown glass cloches, specially selected pieces of British oak and silver-plated oak leaves.

Designer Nathalie McDonagh has worked with Bennett over the past year to create a completely new concept to complement his menu and fulfil the criteria of the competition.

She said: “Heritage has been privileged and honoured to work with Adam on his entry to the Bocuse d’Or, which is widely acknowledged as the biggest and most prestigious chefs’ competition in the world. We have nothing but huge admiration for the amount of time and dedication that he has put in, and we know that Birmingham can feel immensely proud of his achievements.”

Heritage Silverware was founded in 1976 and manufactures for clients across the world including The Ritz, The Dorchester and the Orient Express.
