Success for NEC as gaming exhibition relocates

ONE of the most important trade shows in the PC and gaming industry has opted to relocate to the National Exhibition Centre.

The PC and Indie Games Show – Rezzed – has signed up for the NEC after staging its inaugural show at the Brighton Centre last year.

The event, which takes place June 22-23, showcases the best of the PC and Indie gaming sector.

The NEC has a strong track record in hosting major consumer exhibitions and live events for the gaming community, including the Gadget Show and GAMEfest. On the consumer side alone, the venue has hosted 55 shows of all sizes over the past 12 months, attracting almost 1.3m visitors with a year-on-year retention rate of 95%.

The IT infrastructure at the venue – which now includes free visitor Wi-Fi – was a further factor in the organisers’ decision to relocate the event.

Chris Hartley, the NEC’s Business Development Director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Rezzed to the NEC for 2013 and we’re confident that this year’s event will be a great success.

“Not only that, but we believe we’re the perfect venue to grow Rezzed; shows that launched at the NEC in 2010 grew by an average of 30% in year two and around 13% in year three, so I hope we can build this relationship and take it forward.”

Visitors at Rezzed 2013 will be able to get hands-on the latest pre-release blockbusters along with a huge selection of indie titles. They will also be able to hear from a host of renowned game designers who will present their latest work directly to the public.

David Lilley, Events Director, Gamer Network Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to bring the No1 PC and Indie gaming show to the NEC. Opening the show up to the whole country is exciting for us and we’re looking forward to building on the success of the 2012 event. This year Rezzed will be bringing all the hot new PC and independent titles from all over the world, as well as some of the hottest development talent. It’s a barnstormer.”

10,000 gamers are expected to the attend Rezzed 2013, which will showcase independent manufacturers and publishers of computer games and publishers of interactive games for video games consoles, handheld devices, personal computers and the internet.
