Double partner promotion at Wragges

BIRMINGHAM law firm Wragge & Co has promoted two new partners, strengthening its capability in intellectual property and construction. Kate Swaine and Daniel Wood will join the firm’s partnership on May 1.

Swaine specialises in brand and design protection, clearance and enforcement. Her experience includes taking building solutions manufacturer Kingspan Group plc to High Court victory in a high-profile trademark and advertising dispute against Rockwool Limited.

Wood advises on the full range of energy, civil engineering and construction disputes, representing employers, contractors and professionals. His promotion takes the number of partners in Wragge & Co’s 30-lawyer construction team to eight.

Corporate team expansion at Sydney Mitchell

LAW firm Sydney Mitchell has expanded its corporate team with the appointment of Kian Golestani as consultant solicitor based in the Birmingham office.

Golestani has more than 25 years’ experience in corporate and commercial Law. He works with owner managed businesses and SMEs in addition to subsidiaries of multi-national companies. 

His specialist areas include share and assets sales and purchases and other private equity transactions; commercial property sales and purchases as well as commercial landlord and tenant transactions.

New president for Warwickshire Law Society

THE organisation which represents legal professionals in the Warwickshire region has appointed a new president.

Liz Talbot, from Bonell & Co in Stratford-upon-Avon, has succeeded Dawn Mobbs, from Coventry law firm Band Hatton, as president of the Warwickshire Law Society.

Talbot said: “I feel very honoured to be selected as president of the society during what is a very interesting time for our profession.

“Times are changing and I think everyone in the society has had to work even harder in order to survive and thrive.

“During my presidency I will aim to help us support the profession locally and for that support to be more accessible to our members.

“Dawn did a wonderful job during her year and raised a large amount of money for charity, which is something I will aim to emulate.”

Mobbs said: “Raising the profile of the Warwickshire Law Society was one of my main aims when I took over as president and I think we have done that.”
