Dudley firm Midtherm boosts orders after trade show event

A DUDLEY laser cutting subcontractor has boosted business in south of England after taking part in a new trade show.

Midtherm Laser decided to take part in the Southern Manufacturing Show, its first exhibition outside of the Midlands, to see what the appetite was like in different regions for its services.

The Southern Manufacturing Show is one of the longest running and best supported industrial technology shows in the UK. Since moving to its present venue at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire in 2008, the show has enjoyed consistent double digit growth, which this year saw exhibitor numbers swell to well over 700 companies.

David Wheatley, Midtherm sales manager, said: “We were aware that the Southern Manufacturing exhibition attracted large visitor numbers, but we were overwhelmed by the size of the event.

“The show was very well attended and the leads we generated were phenomenal. This show has given our company a platform to target new business outside of our area whilst maximising exposure and adding credibility to our profile.”

During the two days of the show, Midtherm’s stand was visited by more than 100 different companies, generating over 40 promising leads; two of which could have a significant impact on the growth of the company.

“Since the show, we have been working on a number of enquires from customers that visited our stand. So far we have opened five brand new accounts and have taken orders with a collective value that would pay for the stand five times over,” added Mr Wheatley.

The next phase of Midtherm’s 2013 growth strategy includes the arrival of its brand new £200,000 Bystronic 250T pressbrake which should be delivered and commissioned, just in time for its next exhibition, which is at Subcon 2013, NEC Birmingham between June 4-6.
