More awards success for NEC catering arm Amadeus

VENUE and special events caterer Amadeus has served up success for itself by scooping nine awards at the esteemed Wessex Salon Culinaire.

Amadeus, the catering arm of the NEC Group, was represented in the Display and Live Hot categories, picking up three silver, two bronze and four Merit awards.

With over 700 entries, the 2013 Wessex Salon Culinaire is one of the largest live culinary competitions in the UK and has grown in stature as an especially good platform for student chefs wanting competition experience on a high profile stage.

The competition was split into four categories: Live Hot, Live Cold, Restaurant and Display, with scores of classes in each category for entrants to select, ranging  from a British game main course in the Live Hot section, right through to napkin folding in the Display.

Kevin Watson, managing director of Amadeus, said: “I am truly delighted for all our award winners. I believe we have some of the best up and coming chefs in the industry working in our kitchens and the Salon Culinaire is a great stage to showcase what they can do.

“The experience of entering, and indeed, doing so well in such a distinguished competition will give them the confidence to enter more competitions over the coming months and really raise their profile in the industry.”

At last month’s MARCHE awards, which took place at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, Amadeus won five awards including Chef of the year and Young Chef of the Year.

The caterer has also been shortlisted alongside the NEC for the Best Conference Support Services Award ahead of June’s Conference Awards.
